Old and New Parliament House

First time I went to Canberra was a year ago.
I did the absolute touristy thing : the visit of the Parliaments.

I started with the old one, and then the new one.
Unfortunately we hadn't planned our visit and couldn't go on a tour; so I think I might have missed something (I might be going back soon to learn about Australian democracy!).

I have to say I preferred the old one. They have kept most of the furniture and added fake people inside so that we can see how was life inside. There are also many explanations on how the Parliament was working and why was it built there and had then to be transferred (its small size). Funny fact: none of the clocks show the same time.
Inside you can also read about Australian democracy through various rooms. As non-Australian this bit wasn't as interesting because I didn't relate to much of what was said. If you want to learn more about Australian politics, it is a must-do.

We then drove to the new Parliament (yes, we were lazy).
I think it was a bit too modern for me. I prefer old architecture, and this is not old! (obviously)
Being able to wander inside is very nice though : there is a lot of space, and some art referring to Australian democracy.
You can also go all the way to the top and have a great view on Canberra.
Entry is free so you don't loose much going there, but I think if you should go trying to find the time of tours would be a better idea.
